Dr. Rachel Erickson, EAMP, ND received a BS in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin. She went on to earn her Naturopathic Doctorate degree from the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, OR. NCNM is one of the oldest accredited Naturopathic Colleges in North America. Naturopathic Doctors are trained in modern medicine while steeped in traditional healing practices and are licensed primary care physicians. Education includes nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, manipulation, and many other natural therapies. While at NCNM she also obtained her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Classical Chinese Medicine Program. The program focused on the roots of this ancient medicine by teaching a way of thinking that stems from the classical writings of Chinese Medicine. Dr. Rachel Erickson studied acupuncture, Chinese herbal formulas, and Qi Gong. She traveled to China in the summer of 2005 to study Qi Gong with Master Wang, where she further developed her love for the practice of energy cultivation. These two programs took a total of seven years to complete.
Further studies brought her to the New England School of Homeopathy where she completed a two-year course in advanced homeopathy. Five Element acupuncture has also been a compliment to her practice of Chinese Medicine. She participated in a mentorship program with David Berkshire to learn Five Element Acupuncture and Homeopathic Drainage. Dr. Rachel studied the history of Naturopathy, nature cure, and hydrotherapy through research in the rare books room at NCNM. Through training with Dr. Anne Hill, ND she learned Core Synchronism a practice that is similar to cranial sacral therapy.
Her desire to study ancient wisdom also drew her to study of Ayurvedic Medicine where she learned panchakarma treatments, pulse diagnosis, herbs, and the guiding principles of the medicine at Ayurveda Plus Rejuvenation Center. She completed a yoga teacher training in 2005 with the Living Yoga Program in Austin Texas.
Dr.Rachel Erickson's love for nature developed throughout her childhood in Texas camping and hiking at state parks. It expanded at The University of Texas at Austin while she obtained a Bachelors of Science in Biology with a major in Ecology Evolution and Conservation. While spending a semester abroad in Costa Rica she was able to experience some of natures richest biodiversity.
To cultivate her own well being Dr. Rachel Erickson enjoys backpacking, hiking, swimming, and biking. Art and music nourish her soul. She graduated from McCallum High School in Austin, TX where she spent many hours in the art studio. She now puts her creative energy towards wholesome cooking, weaving, spinning, knitting, painting, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her husband, John and raising her son Elijah and daughter Leia.
